• What are moles?

One of these moles will kill you, the other is harmless. Do you know which one it is? With the naked eye its very hard to be sure, even for experienced Doctors. Computerised dermoscopy at NAEVUS is the latest tool in the war against Melanoma.

Naevus is a unique service for skin cancer detection using advanced computer technology: screening that provides you with immediate results. Naevus (pronounced 'nee-vus') is from the Latin and is the medical term for mole. 

Around 250 New Zealanders will die from melanoma each year but many more are successfully treated.

Early diagnosis is the key

Personalised assessments by highly skilled health professionals trained in dermoscopy - a new technique improving accuracy in skin cancer diagnosis by visualisation of the structure of moles at high magnification.

Moles of potential concern are dermoscopically scanned and assessed by the dermoscopist.  In addition they are subjected to computer analysis using an expert system developed in Germany. The Bodyscan facility digitally records images of your body to locate all moles. Images are stored and can be recalled and superimposed for future comparison.

Computerised analysis and diagnosis under marked magnification allows the combined benefits of the Dermoscopist seeing vastly more detail in the cellular structure of the mole, as well as the added security of computer software analysis of the patterns present.

If you are concerned about freckles or moles see us. We will do a full body scan of concerning moles ($210) and also offer a single lesion scan ($50) if there is just one worrisome mole.
